Julian M. Smothers joined the firm in April 2013 as an Associate. Mr. Smothers focuses his practice in the areas of medical negligence, products liability, wrongful death, personal injury, professional negligence and insurance coverage issues.
In addition to his experience as a civil trial attorney, Mr. Smothers served as an active duty Military Intelligence Officer in the U.S. Army and his service included roles as a Company Executive Officer, Company Commander and Battalion Operations Officer. He is currently a Captain in the Florida Army National Guard.
Experience
Mr. Smothers has extensive experience representing both first and third party clients in matters of bodily injury, property damage, personal injury protection, diminished value claims and insurance coverage disputes.
Mr. Smothers has jury and bench trial experience through verdict in venues throughout the state of Florida. Additionally, he has handled Appellate matters before District Courts of Appeal and Circuit Appellate benches.
Recognition
In 2006, Mr. Smothers received the President’s Award for his work with the George Edgecomb Bar Association in Tampa, Florida. While in law school, Mr. Smothers served as an intern with the Hillsborough County Attorney's Office, volunteered at Three Rivers Legal Services and was named the University of Florida, Levin College of Law, Pro Bono Student of the Year in 2002. He also served as an executive board member of the Law College Council.
